David at Spohr Garden in Falmouth thanking Environmental Affairs Secretary Matt Beaton for releasing the $500,000 earmark from the environmental bond bill that helped leverage an over $2M land purchase to protect Oyster Pond watershed. David worked with the Environment Committee Chair to include an $800,000 earmark in the original draft of the bill to show the commitment to public-private partnerships. Continued fundraising by volunteers only required $500,000 necessary to close the deal. (Chapter 286 of the Acts of 2014)
Rep. Vieira with Mashpee local officials and former Governor Patrick breaking ground on the Market Street extension in Mashpee Commons made possible by a $900,000 MassWorks Infrastructure grant awarded to the Town of Mashpee. The project includes 12,000 square feet of commercial space and 50 apartments, 25 percent of which will be affordable.
Rep. Vieira is a member of the Massachusetts Military Asset & Security Strategy Task Force (MASS TF) and participates in biweekly conference calls helping to coordinate the activities of the task force. Not only is Rep. Vieira a member of MASS TF, but as Ranking House Member of the Public Safety & Homeland Security Committee he helped include MASS TF’s establishment in state law during the military bond bill process.
